When these machines are not being modified to its limits to leave modern super cars in the dust, they excel quite well for what they were made for. That is, off-roading on the most rugged of terrain. One of the most rugged SUVS on the market today, tried and proven in Australia’s roughest outback, the Nissan Patrol is one of the best SUVS to buy if you’re looking for a rugged off roader. This is due to the tough but flexible independent suspension, large wheels and arches and very high ride height.

This allows the vehicle to maneuver very unforgiving terrain very well. When off-roading, larger SUV’s with proper axles are a necessity, and even when not off-roading, the tougher suspension allows for a much longer lasting vehicle. And based on the road quality in a country like Jamaica, a tough SUV is the ideal vehicle to have to survive the deadly pothole ridden roadways. Also, despite their size and look, they are quite nice to drive around as normal driving without worrying about your wheels being easily destroyed. Wouldn’t you prefer an SUV over a car, or are you more of a car person? If so, name one that you would like.

You may think this vehicle would cost the same as the super car that it beat in the video, since it manage to beat it , but in reality, this vehicle only merely costed around $52k USD (cost of the stock SUV) plus the cost of the Nissan GTR($110k USD) that it “borrowed” the parts from, a small sum of around $250k including modifications, which is around a quarter of the price of that Porsche it strolled away from in the video.  

You may ask how this SUV could beat one of Porsche’s flagship super cars with such little effort. This was due to a big turbo. What is a turbo and how does it work you may ask? A turbo is a device that uses waste gases to generate more power in an engine. This means that instead of all the gases being put into your exhaust, some of it is used to spin a turbine that forces more air into your engine to give your vehicle more power. The Patrol has two of these, hence why It is so powerful. Turbocharging is a very efficient way of squeezing extra power out of engines, and can be done to many vehicles, even typical vehicles we know today have them such as the new Honda CRV’s.

Turbochargers are one of the more modern ways of increasing the power output of engines while being able to decrease the size, this results in slightly less emissions since the waste gases are used back into the engine cycle and allow for more driving dynamics. The downside to turbos is the slightly increased fuel usage and maintenance requirements, but they are fun to drive. Would you want a turbo in your vehicle? Or do you already have one? This is a 2017 Nissan Patrol (right), which is truly an engineering marvel. With a top speed of 150mph, this vehicle is an animal in the street. This very unassuming vehicle was able to beat a Porsche 918(left), one of the fastest present-day super cars and yet looks so boring. This is one true marvel of testing the limit of performance cars.

This was the engine put inside the patrol. The truth is, under the hood was nothing that a regular patrol had, because this vehicle was a super car placed inside an SUV. The engine, drive-train and transmission are straight from a Nissan GTR (below) which most of you will be familiar with.

Even though this vehicle was not normally as fast as the Porsche 918, with some interesting modifications, it could produce 1900hp(horsepower), twice that of a Ferrari and more than any stock Nissan GT-R that made it able to beat the 918 in style. Although it was very difficult to do this swap, it was done with the help of one of Dubai’s best engineering shops and provided marvelous results. No one would have expected such a simple SUV to be this fast, as it looks very unassuming with its large stature. Wouldn’t you want one to buy? How much do you think this would cost?
